Project Scope: Replacing a Failing Retaining Wall
The client’s existing retaining wall had become structurally unsound and was visually detracting from the garden’s appeal. Our objective was to clear the failing structure and engineer a robust, long-term solution that would stabilise the ground while seamlessly integrating with the garden’s established style.
The Build: Structural Groundworks and Decorative Cladding
The build began with the careful demolition and removal of the old wall to prepare the site. Our team then excavated and poured precision concrete footings with integrated steps to provide a stable foundation. On this base, we constructed a high-strength concrete block retaining wall to manage the lateral earth pressure effectively.
To ensure the new structure was as attractive as it was functional, we cladded the concrete blocks with premium timber. This bespoke timber finish was selected to tie the project into the existing garden elements, creating a cohesive and natural look. The technical challenge involved ensuring the levels of the new footings were perfectly aligned to allow for a uniform finish across the entire length of the cladding.
