Precision Underpinning & Footing Installation in Challenging Ground Conditions

Working in partnership with a self-project managing homeowner, we successfully excavated and installed concrete underpinning and footings to support a new property extension. Despite challenging waterlogged ground conditions that required active pumping to remove water buildup in the footings, our team delivered stable foundations that fully met building control standards, allowing the client to confidently proceed to the next construction phase.

Project Scope: Specialist Underpinning for a Self-Managed Home Extension

The client, who was self-managing a home extension, appointed Evolve to install the critical concrete underpinning and footings. Our role was to provide the structural foundation required to move the project safely into its next phase.

The Build: Overcoming Waterlogged Ground Conditions

Working strictly to architectural drawings, our team excavated the footings and underpinning. To support the client’s landscaping goals, we strategically stockpiled the excavated material for future use as backfill behind an existing retaining wall. A significant challenge during this build was the exceptionally high water table; we utilised professional pumping equipment to clear the footings before precisely pouring the concrete to the required levels.

The Result: Building Control Approved Foundations

The project resulted in stable, high-quality footings fully approved by Building Control. We delivered a stable foundation for a satisfied client, ensuring their self-managed extension could proceed on schedule.
